Hello and welcome! I am excited to launch this blog about two of my favorite hobbies that I share with my husband: improving our home and discovering new (to us) restaurants! But first, allow me introduce myself:
My name is Michelle and I’m from Corpus Christi, Texas which – if you’re unfamiliar with the region – is about 2 hours south of San Antonio, Texas and about 2.5 hours north of the U.S./Mexico border. My husband, Kyle, and I just celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary! We bought our first home together in 2015 and immediately knew that we wanted to change some things to make it fit our style better. Here’s a photo of our home from the original listing on Zillow:
If I’m being honest – I fell in love with this house from the moment I saw it! As soon as we got out of the car and stood on the porch to meet the realtor for the first viewing, I felt like this house was “the one.” My husband, however, was immediately turned off by the “Pepto Bismol” pink paint and was ready to walk away without even looking inside! A funny side note to this story is that the realtor could not get the bluetooth lock to open, so we were unable to view the home that day. Luckily, my husband obliged me as I stated that we absolutely had to look inside that house and we were able to return on another day. Needless to say, getting rid of that pink paint was our first project!
While we were outside painting the front of the house, one of our neighbors came over and told us that the sellers had just painted the house right before they listed it. Apparently, it was originally sort of a creamy tan color. We still can’t believe someone painted it pink and joke that it worked to our benefit because no one else bid against us. In case you’re wondering, this is how our paint project turned out:
Over the past 5 years, we have completed quite a few projects inside of the house. Some of the smaller projects include replacing light switches and covers, putting a talavera backsplash in the pantry, and building organization solutions. Some of the larger projects include replacing most of the tile flooring with hardwood floors, renovating the laundry room, removing built in shelves, etc. I can’t wait to share our past projects with you, but I’m excited to start this blog as we begin our latest project: tiling the patio in our backyard!
I will dedicate a post or two to the patio project as we work on it, but you can follow along daily on Instagram or Facebook: @dineanddigs
I look forward to sharing our adventures with you — Thank you for joining me!
